Youth Expression Showcase: Winners of the 2011 Gilda’s Club Teen Writers Contest

Winners of the 2011 Gilda’s Club Teen Writing Contest joining us to share excerpts from their winning pieces. Gilda’s Club is a warm and welcoming place where men, women, teens, and children diagnosed with cancer, and family and friends, join with others to build social, emotional and informational support as a supplement to medical care.

She joins us representing the 54th annual Pittsburgh Folk Festival. The festival now highlights the cultural diversity of more than 30 nationalities in the Pittsburgh area.

Spotlight: Pittsburgh Folk Festival w/ Mimi Jong

Mimi Jong has played the erhu – an ancient chinese instrument – since the age of ten. She has performed alongside members of the Pittsburgh Symphony and renowned Jazz musicians. Jong also performed with Mary Miller Dance Company, and taught/performed at Huntingdon Council for the Arts “Folk College.”
