Listen and learn as Pittsburgh Manchester PreK-8 4th and 5th graders share their expertise.

This project was made possible with generous support from The Buhl Foundation.

Twenty students about to enter their first year of college created these nine radio documentaries as part of their position as Summer Interns at The Heinz Endowments.

These original compositions were written by the Pittsburgh Allegheny K-5 Young Writers’ Club. Participating 3rd and 4th graders met after school on a regular basis, wrote and polished their projects, and recorded them in their classroom using portable recorders.

GirlTalk Radio is a youth radio program in which students learn research, interviewing and digital audio editing to create a series of radio broadcasts and podcasts.  These radio pieces are also featured on StoryBox units.

In January 2010, students in 6th through 8th grade at Pittsburgh Manchester Pre-K-8 took time to reflect on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This StoryBox unit presents the resulting spoken essays about his life as well as through verbal interpretations of specific passages from Dr. King’s speeches.
