The Saturday Light Brigade

Kmari, 11, Miles, 9, Shaiyan, 8, Elena and Ellie, are all students in the ECS Earth Ink, a nature writing program, which takes place after school and is facilitated by Jessica Server, Linsdsey Scherloum, and Ian Riggins in connection with Chatham University. Here they share selections, live on SLB.

Vermont-based singer/songwriter Rik Palieri performs original tunes on guitar to old traditional “Americana” folk songs live in our studios.

New at Neighborhoodvoices: Meredith Hudock, Haley Raphael and Anthony Cicco, all students at The Center for Young Musicians, performing solo and ensemble pieces for violin, live on SLB.

New at Neighborhoodvoices: Katie, 9, Lance, 8, Alex, 9, Chloe, 11, Theresa, 11, and Elizabeth, 12, are all violin/fiddle students in the private studio of Luci Tedesco. Hear them perform Irish and American jigs and reels, live on SLB.

New at Neighborhoodvoices: The Saturday Light Brigade was lucky enough to have four very special guests from Washington and Jefferson College visit our studio this past Saturday. DeAndre Simmons, Michelle Kelly, Lindsay Smith, and Erikka Loper stopped by the studio as a field trip for their class with Dr. Anthony Fleury, of Washington and Jefferson’s Theater and Communications Department. Each student hosts and/or produces a radio show on Washington and Jefferson’s college station, WNJR. The four took some time to talk to us about themselves, their education, and their radio shows, live on SLB.

New at Neighborhoodvoices: Sean Regan of Edinboro PA, along with Nick Hudson, Andrew Bova, and percussionist Miles Bennington performing traditional Scottish pieces for bagpipes and discussing the origins and significance of these instruments, their music and culture, live on SLB.

New at Neighborhoodvoices: Singer-songwriter Mark Adam Trimpey of Grove City, PA, performing acoustic folk-pop, live on SLB.

New at Neighborhoodvoices: Members from the Pittsburgh Musical Theater performing selections from their upcoming performance of ‘AIDA,’ the classic story of Giuseppe Verdi’s Italian opera with the contempory music and style of Elton John and Tim Rice, live on SLB.

New at Neighborhoodvoices: A very special guest called in to the show to read us his favorite Dr. Seuss book on the air… Charlie Batch from the Best of the Batch Foundation and the Pittsburgh Steelers! Charlie gave us a call and spent some time talking to us about his foundation and his love for Dr. Seuss, and topped it off by reading “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” live on SLB.
