Since 1978, The Saturday Light Brigade has broadcast LIVE spontaneous on-air phone calls from kids and adults as part of its Saturday morning radio program. Now you can hear some of the most memorable calls from people participating in on-air games and other participatory features or simply calling to tell us about something exciting.

As we finished up a great summer of learning about audio, interviewing, and making recordings, campers tried their hand at writing commercials. Some campers chose businesses that already exist, while others created their own services and penned advertisements accordingly. A few writers even elected to add music.

Here, the interns from 2015 share their thoughts on gardening, harvesting, fresh food, herbs, and favorite experiences.

Radio Camp 2015 – Microphone Building

Radio Campers at Summer Dreamer’s Academy learned how they worked, then go to build their very own microphone out of household materials! Using just two magnets, a length of copper wire, three washers, a nut, a bolt, a plastic straw and a cup, campers created an amazing piece of technology!

Wilkinsburg TIGERs summer campers are all about business. Upon choosing their line of work, each group drafted and recorded commercial advertisements. Business endeavors range from video game and shoe sales to an old fashioned ice cream parlor and even an on-call gas leak specialist. Check out these young entrepreneurs as they showcase their marketing savvy.
