5th Grade Students attending the Radio Club at Pittsburgh Allegheny PreK-8 made these recordings on March 22nd. Having previously discussed a wide range of topics, students were asked the classic: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" The children answered, with conviction, that they wanted to be teachers, singers and professional nuns.

On March 8th, 2013, 5th graders at Pittsburgh Allegheny attended the Radio Club for the third time; and this time they were asked what they thought some of their best personal accomplishments were. As it turns out, this class is composed almost entirely of great test takers!

In early 2012, students in 5th grade at Pittsburgh Allegheny K-5 wrote and edited personal narratives in Ms. Hutson and Ms. Manifold's writing classes. They then recorded excerpts of their work. Special thanks to Mrs. O'Malley for allowing this opportunity and to the student writers for working hard and sharing their stories.
As part of the HearMe initiative, Kindergarten students at Pittsburgh Allegheny Pre-K-8 wrote and recorded these essays. Topics range from a favorite movie, to whales, jets, May and even a loss of a family member.
Look for six new SLB StoryBoxes featuring the voices of sixty children expressing their hopes for 2011 at First Night Pittsburgh. Created in conjunction with The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the Hear Me project, these StoryBoxes will be installed at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Arts Education Center, 805/807 Liberty Avenue, Downtown from New Year's Eve through late January.
These original compositions were written by the Pittsburgh Allegheny K-5 Young Writers’ Club. Participating 3rd and 4th graders met after school on a regular basis, wrote and polished their projects, and recorded them in their classroom using portable recorders.
