Radio Camp 2014 – Day 7 – Song, Rap, or Poem

July 9, 2014 – 11:32 am

Beats were dropped as campers tried their hand at songwriting. Some even wrote haiku poetry.

Radio Camp 2014 – Day 6 – “When I’m Older…”

July 8, 2014 – 10:37 am

On our sixth day of Radio Camp, campers were asked what they would like to be when they grow up. In class we have an aspiring Jacksonville Jaguar quarterback (don’t worry, there’s a plan), a doctor by day and a humanitarian jitney by night combo (like a very mild mannered Batman) and a ton of future teachers.

Radio Camp 2014 – Day 5 – “Who Am I” Game

July 7, 2014 – 10:24 am

On our fifth day of Radio Camp, we decided to readdress nuanced discipline known as “Proper Microphone Technique.” But, to make it more fun we played the “Who Am I” game where students each received a sticky note, wrote down the name of a famous person, then stuck said note to a neighbor’s forehead. Each camper then got a chance to use a wireless mic and ask Yes or No questions in an attempt to figure out who they were, all while having to exhibit perfect mic technique.

Radio Camp 2014 – Day 4 – Independence Day

July 3, 2014 – 10:36 am

On our fourth day of Radio Camp, just one day away from July 4th weekend, we asked campers what they thought about and planned to do on our nation’s birthday. One camper had plans to travel to beautiful, exciting, exotic Buffalo, while many more mentioned barbecuing and explosions.

Radio Camp 2014 – Day 3 – Decoration

July 2, 2014 – 10:24 am

On our third day of Radio Camp we decided that the our room needed a little more chutzpah, moxie, and/or verve. So campers and teachers alike helped to create a vast collection of radio-themed art to decorate the room with.

Radio Camp 2014 – Day 2 – 3 Things About Me

July 1, 2014 – 10:21 am

On our second day of Radio Camp, campers were introduced to our trademark recording roles of: Producer, Engineer and Talent. Afterwards they each received their very own reporters notebook, which they’ll write in almost everyday and shall act as a journal during the Summer. Each camper then wrote down and recorded three unique things about themselves.

Radio Camp 2014 – Day 1 – Ice Breakers

June 30, 2014 – 11:19 am

On our very first day of Radio Camp at the Summer Dreamers Academy (at Pittsburgh Faison) campers got a chance to learn about one another through team building games like two truths and a lie. Believe it or not, none of the campers have been to the Moon or eaten dog food.

Radio Camp 2013 – Day 27 – The Omega (Man) Day

August 7, 2013 – 12:28 pm

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve reached the end of Summer Dreamers 2013. It’s been a good ride–we’ve learned new things, made new friends, played new games, and lost a ton of Four Square. Today, two of our campers presented Radio Camp and our accomplishments to the rest of Summer Dreamers during the All Camp Meeting. We then setup an open house for all visiting parents, with a display table featuring each student’s final writing project. Afterwards, we headed outside to play our final round of Four Square.

Radio Camp 2013 – Day 26 – KICKBALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

August 6, 2013 – 10:51 am

On our second to last day of camp, we played a little Teachers vs Students kickball! Both classes put up an admirable fight, but, in the end, Mr. Andy’s colossal right foot and Mr. Ben’s panther-like agility proved too much for the Radio Campers.

Radio Camp 2013 – Day 25 – Narration Recording Part Deux

August 5, 2013 – 9:50 am

On our 25th day, campers finished recording their narration! It was a long, tough road filled with revisions and repetitions, but they pushed through it like Jerome Bettis crossing the line of scrimmage.
