Our weekly radio program invites students in Grades K-12 to perform live on the air. Hear young musicians, singer/songwriters, photographers, writers, poets and other people who express themselves through the arts.

Since 1978, The Saturday Light Brigade has broadcast LIVE spontaneous on-air phone calls from kids and adults as part of its Saturday morning radio program. Now you can hear some of the most memorable calls from people participating in on-air games and other participatory features or simply calling to tell us about something exciting.

Join us as we celebrate the original talent in our midst with these weekly archives of in-studio performances by regional and national musicians and artists. Folk, bluegrass, jazz, singer/songwriter, international, storytellers and more!

New at Neighborhoodvoices: Shakespeare in the Park presents The Tempest throughout September in Frick Park (Sept 1, 2, 22, 23), Arsenal Park (Sept 8, 9) and West Park (15, 16). This past week, we were joined by Alan Irvin, coordinator, as well as “The Tempest” cast members Michael, Connor, Tonya and Garret as they introduced both themselves and their characters. Meet some of the cast and hear a reading from the play, live on SLB.

The organization will host its biggest event of the year, the 2nd Annual Pittsburgh Super Stroll, on Sunday March 25th, 2012, at 12:00pm. New at Neighborhoodvoices: The Saturday Light Brigade was lucky enough to have four very special guests from Washington and Jefferson College visit our studio this past Saturday. DeAndre Simmons, Michelle Kelly, Lindsay Smith, and Erikka Loper stopped by the studio as a field trip for their class with Dr. Anthony Fleury, of Washington and Jefferson’s Theater and Communications Department. Each student hosts and/or produces a radio show on Washington and Jefferson’s college station, WNJR. The four took some time to talk to us about themselves, their education, and their radio shows, live on SLB.
