Live Music: Broken Fences
New at Neighborhoodvoices: Broken Fences is the songwriting duo of Morgan Erina and Guy Russo. Individually accomplished in their own right, the duo recently released their debut album to a sold-out crowd and critical acclaim. We are pleased to have Broken Fences join us, live on SLB.
YES: South Park Children’s Theatre
New at Neighborhoodvoices: The youth cast of South Park Theatre’s latest production, ‘Blame It on the Wolf’, perform selected scenes from the play. The South Park Theatre’s mission is to provide quality, affordable mainstream theatre to both adults and children in the region and encourage participation and involvement in the arts. The Children’s Theatre stage is a unique, outdoor venue for children to enjoy quality, family-friendly theatre.
YES: Center for Young Musicians Cellists
New at Neighborhoodvoices: Celia, 5, Elliot, 5, Coleman, 6, Colin, 7, Bob, 8, Kazu, 10, and Annie, 11, are cellists at the Center for Young Musicians under the instruction of Rowena Gutana. The Center for Young Musicians develops a community of students with a life-long love of music through a comprehensive, long-term curriculum. We’re happy to have these young players in our studios, performing live on SLB.
Live Music: Brooke Annibale
New at Neighborhoodvoices: Brooke Annibale is a singer-songwriter from Pittsburgh who performs acoustic folk originals paired with earthy vocals. We’re pleased to welcome her back to our studios to perform her original songs, live on SLB.
YES: Center for Young Musicians Violinists
New at Neighborhoodvoices: Katie, 5, Alexa, 5, Ava, 7, Josephine, 8, Haley, 13, and Meredith, an incoming college freshman, are violinists at the Center for Young Musicians under the instruction of Tanya Satteson. The Center for Young Musicians develops a community of students with a life-long love of music through a comprehensive, long-term curriculum. YES: Nathaniel Chen
New at Neighborhoodvoices: The Pittsburgh Concert Society’s Young Artists Competition provides a recital opportunity and support to talented classical musicians. This week, we’re delighted to present winning artist Nathaniel Chen from Marshall Middle School, performing selections on piano, live on SLB.
Live Music: Josh & Gab
New at Neighborhoodvoices: Comedian Gab Bonesso and singer-songwriter Josh Verbanets make ‘Josh & Gab,’ who create interactive and educational entertainment for youth in Pittsburgh. Both of these talented, well-known locals are long time friends of the show and we are happy to welcome them to our studios for the first time together, performing their upbeat anti-bullying anthems, live on SLB.
YES: Jamie McCullough
New at Neighborhoodvoices: Jamie McCullough is 17 years old and a soon-to-be freshman at West Virginia University, as well as bass player for the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. He joins us in our studios to perform selections for double bass, and to discuss the importance of youth music programs, live on SLB.
Live Music: Big Snow Big Thaw
New at Neighborhoodvoices: Big Snow Big Thaw perform rootsy and americana originals for banjo, guitar and percussion, coupled with lively and beautfiul vocal harmonies. We’re pleased to welcome this talented trio back to our studios.
YES: Gordon Neidinger
New at Neighborhoodvoices: 17-year old Gordon Neidinger is a Pittsburgh-based mandolin prodigy, serving as concertmaster for the Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra, and receiving national exposure through media outlets such as NPR’s “From the Top.” Here he is joined by Paul Dvorchak on fiddle. We’re pleased to welcome them back to our studios.
