Providence Connections: Acrostic Poems
Students in Radio Club at Providence Connections wrote and recorded these acrostic poems about spring. First we had a discussion about what makes an acrostic poem (a poem in which the first letter of each line in the text spells out a word or a message – in this case, SPRING). Then, everyone wrote their poems and drew pictures to accompany them! Listen below to hear what everyone wrote.

Pittsburgh King After School: Alien Stories
With all the nice weather, we decided to stroll through historic Allegheny Center over to the Children’s Museum and have a studio day. There, King students put on their science fiction hat and wrote stories containing aliens.
Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 2015: Zoom H2 Interviews
Students in Radio Club at Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 wrote interview questions and put into practice the basics of interviewing that they learned in the last session using Zoom H2 recorders. They then interviewed each other and listened back to their audio.
Voices of Project Destiny
During the 2014- 2015 school year, SLB, in partnership with Project Destiny convened a group of middle and high school students. While learning about digital audio recording, the group also spent time discussing attributes of role models and identifying adults with a connection to the Northside to be interviewed. With support as needed, students then arranged, conducted and edited the interviews.
Pittsburgh Allegheny 6-8 After School 2015: “Three Things About Me”
On the first of six after school sessions, students at Allegheny Traditional Academy were introduced to The Saturday Light Brigade and the basics of audio production.
