Our weekly radio program invites students in Grades K-12 to perform live on the air. Hear young musicians, singer/songwriters, photographers, writers, poets and other people who express themselves through the arts.

Since 1978, The Saturday Light Brigade has broadcast LIVE spontaneous on-air phone calls from kids and adults as part of its Saturday morning radio program. Now you can hear some of the most memorable calls from people participating in on-air games and other participatory features or simply calling to tell us about something exciting.

Pittsburgh King After School: Christmas & My School

Our After School group at King wrote and recorded what they plan to do for Christmas as well as their hopes for the New Year. It seems like tree houses are going to be big in 2015! Due to a field trip not everyone got a chance to record but check back soon for everyone’s individual pieces.

At the end of our session, students discussed what they like about their school and some things they might want to change.

Pittsburgh Brashear After School: Fighting, Interim Grades, & If I Were Mayor

After School students at Brashear have been having some interesting candid discussions in Radio Club. During this week’s round table, fighting in school was the main topic. Radio Club members talked about school policy, why fighting happens, and alternatives to violence.

Clairton CASTLE 2014: “My School or Neighborhood”

Students at Clairton CASTLE were asked to reflect upon their neighborhood or school. The first class did this through a structured round table discussion and a wireless microphone. The second, instead, were asked to draw how they wished their school or neighborhood looked, and then took turns recording their verbal descriptions of their finished drawings.
