Since 1978, The Saturday Light Brigade has broadcast LIVE spontaneous on-air phone calls from kids and adults as part of its Saturday morning radio program. Now you can hear some of the most memorable calls from people participating in on-air games and other participatory features or simply calling to tell us about something exciting.

Clairton CASTLE 2015: “My Perfect Day” Part 2

Middle school students at Clairton finished reflecting on what would happen on their “Perfect Day.” Some would learn so much they’d never have to return to school, while an other would like to transform into Odell Beckham Jr!

The Youth Media Advocacy project teaches local high school students how to use the media to gain a voice in the community, and helps them hone ideas for advocacy campaigns that will aid their schools and communities. Students from Wilkinsburg High School, Pittsburgh Obama and Pittsburgh Brashear return to classrooms after Winter break to discuss education issues and set goals for 2015.

Wilkinsburg After School: Haiku Poems

Students wrote in haiku poem format. It consists of three lines with the first and last line having 5 moras, and the middle line having 7. A mora is a sound unit, much like a syllable, but is not identical to it.

Pittsburgh Brashear After School: Interview Prep

After Schoolers will be interviewing a Brashear alum next week, so students brushed up on their examination skills. Radio Club members learned about open-ended questions, following up, and listened to similar audio pieces. After the interview students will have to opportunity to edit their own recordings.
