Pittsburgh Langley K-8: Bullying
Students in Citiparks’ After School Academy at Pittsburgh Langley K-8 wrote and recorded pieces in which they shared their thoughts about bullying. The piece below is just a small example of the wonderful work they did. These pieces are the result of weekly sessions in which students are learning about the equipment and techniques used in producing features for radio, with the goal of creating announcements for their morning assembly.
Pittsburgh Spring Hill K-5 Radio Club: Three Things About Me
Students in Radio Club at Pittsburgh Spring Hill K-5 wrote and recorded these pieces where they describe themselves in three ways. They had a great time learning about how to hold the microphone and recording on a microphone for the first time (with a few exceptions!).
Propel Northside Radio Club: My Neighborhood
Students in Radio Club at Propel Northside wrote and recorded these pieces describing their neighborhood and favorite place to hang out. They then recorded these pieces and discussed how they would change their neighborhoods.
The ZONE: Changing Our Communities
Our third and fourth meetings of The ZONE’s 2nd semester Radio Club focused on communities, the issues prevalent within them and the ways in which we can help change them for the better.
Clairton CASTLE: Mad Libs
On our 3rd meeeting of CASTLE’s Radio Club, students were given Mad Libs and tasked with imagining the strangest, silliest nouns and verbs they could think of. The first hurdle: learning what an adverb was. The second hurdle: pronouncing “Mad Lib.”
