Since 1978, The Saturday Light Brigade has broadcast LIVE spontaneous on-air phone calls from kids and adults as part of its Saturday morning radio program. Now you can hear some of the most memorable calls from people participating in on-air games and other participatory features or simply calling to tell us about something exciting.

Propel Homestead Afterschool Oral History Program 2015

In Spring of 2015, SLB Radio Productions, Inc., in partnership with Propel Homestead, convened a group of middle school students during their afterschool program. While learning about digital audio recording, the students also spent time discussing attributes of role models and important issues within their community. They then conducted interviews at the Rainbow Kitchen. With support as needed, students then arranged and edited these interviews.

It’s been a fun year with Pittsburgh King in the North Side. In celebration of their hard work and the start of summer, we had a party and listened back to their great work.

On May 18th, Brashear High School hosted Believe Brashear – an event showcasing the talents, hard work, and incredible diversity of the student body. Visitors enjoyed refreshments and also took in dancing and music from young performers. We were on site with microphones rolling.

Pittsburgh Manchester Prek-8: CD Release Party

Over the course of 5 weeks, 7th Graders at Pittsburgh Manchester PreK-8 have been working hard creating awesome audio recordings and, to celebrate all their hard work, the students got to throw an awesome party on their final day! Have a great Summer!

As we said goodbye to our Brashear students for the summer, we looked (well, listened) back to all the great work they did over the year. Students enjoyed refreshments and received a CD containing some choice recordings from our time together.

In the Spring of 2015, students in the CASTLE program at Clairton Middle School worked with Sense of Place Learning and Grow Pittsburgh to build, plant and maintain a raised-bed schoolyard garden.
