Since 1978, The Saturday Light Brigade has broadcast LIVE spontaneous on-air phone calls from kids and adults as part of its Saturday morning radio program. Now you can hear some of the most memorable calls from people participating in on-air games and other participatory features or simply calling to tell us about something exciting.

Pittsburgh Brashear After School: Overrated/Underrated & Discussion of Drugs in School

We asked Radio Club members in our first two blocks what they thought was overrated. The topic and subject were up to them. As you might imagine, there was a great variety of responses – everything thing from Tom Brady and the New England Patriots to blue jeans.

Clairton CASTLE 2015: Microphone Building – Pt. 1

Students at Clairton’s CASTLE program, after learning how they worked, got to build microphones out of household materials! Using just two magnets, a length of copper wire, three washers, a nut, a bolt, a plastic straw and a cup, campers created an amazing piece of technology!

Pittsburgh King After School: Interviewing

Students at Pittsburgh King got the chance to interview each other and learn some basic examination techniques. Afterwards we played the Who Am I? game, where students try to figure out which famous person they are by asking their fellow classmates questions.

Students in Radio Club at Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 wrote and recorded these pieces where they describe themselves in three ways. These pieces are a result of the first of six weekly sessions in which students will learn about the microphones, mixers and digital recorders used in producing features for radio.

Clairton CASTLE 2015: Intro to the H1 & Interviewing

Students at Clairton CASTLE were introduced to the H1–a handheld, digital recording device. After learning the basics, they then formed small groups and took turns interviewing each other. Some opted to interview themselves with a silly voice and an alter-ego while some even interviewed a teacher!
