Grow Pittsburgh and FitWits Family Night

Submitted by on July 5, 2011 – 5:24 pm

Fitwits Family Night is a hands-on event to experience the seed-to-table process. Partnering with Grow Pittsburgh and David Gancy of the Red Oak Cafe, Fitwits exposes participating families to composting and herb planting, care and maintenance at home. After each family pots their own take-home herb, they help Mr. Gancy prepare a large meal, which is then enjoyed over games and raffles. Children attending the Fitwits Family Night at Propel McKeesport discussed their sensory experiences and relationships with herbs. This project was a collaboration between Fitwits, Grow Pittsburgh,  and the Saturday Light Brigade.
