Feature: The Hope Academy’s Community Orchestra w/ Organist Bethan Neely
Joining us, Bethan Neely, 16, piano and organ, and Federico Garcia, Music Director, of The Hope Academy’s East Libery Community Engagement Orchestra (EL CEO).
Participation in Hope Academy’s EL CEO is open to young musicians, and their musically-inclined parents, of all ability levels. This season’s orientation for EL CEO is on Saturday, September 10th, 3pm at East Liberty Presbyterian Church. More information is available below.
Three Rivers Arts Festival
Thank you to everyone who connected with The Saturday Light Brigade during this year’s Three Rivers Arts Festival.
SLB’s tent was open Saturdays and Sundays (noon to 5 p.m.) in the Creativity Zone in Point State Park and collected thoughts from children and youth on the role the arts play in their lives.

Teens Elena Jackendoff and Joanna Weiss, winners of Carnegie Library’s Ralph Munn Creative Writng Contest, join us to share some of their poetry and discuss their experiences. Gemini Theater produces original, interactive, children’s musicals which focus on artistic, cultural and educational themes. This week we welcome members of the cast of ‘Cinderella’ as they preview their production of this classic story.

fifth graders interviewed people who came to the U.S. from other countries. Here are
excerpts from these interviews, and the students’ reflections on this project.
