On August 18th, 2013, residents and supporters of Millvale, Pennsylvania in Allegheny County celebrated the grand opening of their very first public library. A wholly communal project seven years in the making, the library–in addition to housing a wide variety of books and an array of state-of-the-art computers–will act as a hub of programming for educational, occupational, and community-based support for children and families of the Millvale area.
The PNC Foundation actively supports organizations that provide services for the benefit of communities in which it has a significant presence. The foundation focuses its philanthropic mission on early childhood education and community and economic development. PNC congratulates the Millvale Community Library on its grand opening and the dedicated individuals who made it possible. The new facility provides opportunities for local children to learn literacy and other essential skills that help them reach their full potential and strengthen the community.
