Balderdash! Students were each given a made-up word and used their imaginations to come up with an original definition. See what they came up with and how they used these imaginary words in a sentence.
The Youth Media Advocacy Project (YMAP) has lead to the formation of the Wilkinsburg High School Student Union. Their mission is to promote a positive learning environment and generate opportunities for their fellow students.
Students in Radio Club at Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 wrote interview questions and learned the basics of conducting interviews using the Zoom H2 recorders. They then interviewed each other as practice for next weeks final interviews.
Over the course of this semester, Elementary and Middle School students in Clairton’s CASTLE program have been working hard each week creating awesome audio recordings and, to celebrate all their hard work, on this, their final day of Radio Club, students got to enjoy an awesome party!
Since students were gearing up for spring break, they decided to discuss what they do when school is over and they get home. Some Radio Club members helped their younger siblings with homework, hung out with friends, or immediately got something to eat.

Students in Radio Club at Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 wrote and recorded these pieces where they describe issues and concerns they have about their school, their neighborhood and even the world. In addition to these pieces, they each chose one person they would like to interview and shared one question they would ask that person.
If you had to pick one super power, what would you choose? We asked students at Pittsburgh King the same question and got some really off the board answers. Our Radio Club members aren’t interested in standard powers like flying or invisibility, but would rather have control over lava or be able to melt faces.
We asked Radio Club members in our first two blocks what they thought was overrated. The topic and subject were up to them. As you might imagine, there was a great variety of responses – everything thing from Tom Brady and the New England Patriots to blue jeans.
