Students at Brashear gazed into the future and talked about where they see themselves in 10 years. Some Radio Club members seem to have it all figured out, picturing themselves in a wide range of careers like pilot, software engineer, or professional soccer player.

7th graders at Pittsburgh Manchester PreK-8 got their first taste of Radio Club! After learning about The Saturday Light Brigade and the basic tenets of audio recording, the students then put this new knowledge to work briefly describing themselves in the recordings below.

Students at ATA participated in two oddly disparate discussions, one focusing on issues of tremendous import like: “Did Darth Vader actually, really redeem himself at the end of ‘Return of the Jedi?'” The other discussion was about why we exist.

Students in Radio Club at Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 learned the basics of editing using Adobe Audition. They worked on finalizing the audio from their previously collected interviews.

State testing is tough. With our King Radio Club students worn out from PSSA testing, we asked them what they wanted to talk about. The answer was a resounding “WRESTLING!”
Pittsburgh Brashear After School: After School is Important
We asked our Brashear Radio Club members why, if at all, after school programs are important to them. Some students appreciated the ability to use the gym to workout, while others cited the help they’re able to get with their homework, or the time spent with friends.
Providence Connections: Acrostic Poems
Students in Radio Club at Providence Connections wrote and recorded these acrostic poems about spring. First we had a discussion about what makes an acrostic poem (a poem in which the first letter of each line in the text spells out a word or a message – in this case, SPRING). Then, everyone wrote their poems and drew pictures to accompany them! Listen below to hear what everyone wrote.
Pittsburgh King After School: Alien Stories
With all the nice weather, we decided to stroll through historic Allegheny Center over to the Children’s Museum and have a studio day. There, King students put on their science fiction hat and wrote stories containing aliens.
Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 2015: Zoom H2 Interviews
Students in Radio Club at Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 wrote interview questions and put into practice the basics of interviewing that they learned in the last session using Zoom H2 recorders. They then interviewed each other and listened back to their audio.
