On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, high school students hosted Streaming Justice, a live five-hour webcast. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., participants hosted the live webcast, selected the songs played during their segments and learned about the equipment used in a live broadcast. Discussions covered topics such as civil rights, youth engagement, public education and other matters of justice and equity.
Students that participated in Streaming Justice are from area high schools including Barack Obama Academy, City Charter, North Allegheny, Oakland Catholic, Pittsburgh Allderdice, Pittsburgh CAPA, Propel Braddock Hills, Westinghouse and Woodland Hills Academy.

Students at Clairton were asked: “How did you get your name, what does it mean and how do you feel about it now?” Some were named after locations, others were “Jr”s and almost all wouldn’t change their name for anything.
From 01/09/2016: Dr. Brian Perkins talks about a series of community meetings for community members to provide input regarding the search for a new Pittsburgh Public Schools superintendent.
Clairton students were asked what they hoped for in 2016. Their wishes ranged from getting more money to dating a fictional, evil, TV character from the Disney channel (after they make him a good guy, of course.)
From 12/31/2015: TeenBloc provides perspectives of students around the Pittsburgh Area with themes surrounding black excellence, neighborhoods, social and economic viewpoints.
Students at Clairton were asked what they’re looking forward to most this holiday season. After, they received more chances to experiment with handheld digital recorders, voice changers and wireless microphones and keyboards.
In Fall 2015, students in the Science 9 Integrated Physics course were learning about kinematics through the exploration of car crashes. As part of this work, the students participated in design challenges and created PSAs on various aspects of auto safety. They also learned the technology to create their final PSAs.
Christmas time is here. Students at Perry Traditional Academy’s after school program took the time to share a Christmas story or memory that stands out to them.
Students at Clairton wrote and recorded these pieces about where they live before receiving a crash course in audio editing with some help from a projector, wireless keyboard and mouse. They then were asked the all-important question: “Are you excited for the new Star Wars movie???!!!”
